Muong Thanh Hotel

The location was a bit secluded, a part of Sun World Ha long was directly opposite the hotel, convenient if you did that attraction, also very close to where some day tour boats leave the port. But so far from the beach. Nothing much to do in the area, it's like a ghost town. Service staff at reception didn't make much effort to understand what i was asking. Room was big, level 26, beautiful view of the harbour, their pool was huge and clean. The bathtub seal was missing in parts and was very dusty everytime you opened or closed the curtain. Even at level 26 the rave music was pumping until 2am in the morning very loudly and you couldn't escape it in the room. Bed was springy, not quite a 5 star bed. They require $1M vnd as a bond also during our stay.

It was a great stay. Dinner felt like a private service, breakfast was great. And most importantly staff were amazing! Would stay again.

Very friendly and helpful staff, specially the receiption and restaurant manager who managed to arrange a 60th birthday cake for one of our party members at short notice, which was most greatly appreciated.

Amazing location, had a fabulously ginormous room with the best view we can imagine, and a breakfast buffet that's totally worth the price and more over the calories. Staff were courteous, friendly, and very helpful, definitely a repeat stay when we come back another time.

Located right in the city center next to the park and cable car. Very convenient and walking distance to all entertainment venues. The breakfast is okay. However, the room with Ha Long bay view is top notch. You will wake up to the perfect sunrise.

Fabulous hotel, great staff, close to airport, but kind of far from Zone 1 or3

Excellent hotel with a few caveats. 1, I think the main customer here is large tour groups so the staff has become accustomed to rushing every client. 2, the location is great but the speakers from the beach bar are aimed at the building so you will hear the loud music all night until ab 2am - this was my experience on the 28th floor. 3, for a westerner the breakfast lacked choices and I just ended up with some eggs and noodles maybe $1usd worth of food on the local economy - lots of tour group members in the morning so the omelette station is turned into a fried egg emergency center. 4, pool is not heated (Common here) so even though the photos make it looks so beautiful you can't use it for almost half the year. Price was right in the off season but if these issues bother you try one of the Wyndham properties nearby. This is a 5 star hotel but they keep the lights off to save power - really ashamed because the crystal chandeliers look like they're beautiful if back lit. Bottom line is I enjoyed my stay but would pay a tiny fraction more for the Wyndham again next time.
